What are the trading timings for the MCX market?
MCX market has specific trading timings. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) operates during different sessions, allowing traders to participate in commodity trading at designated hours. These trading sessions are divided into three main categories: Pre-Opening Session, Normal Session, and Closing Session.
Pre-Opening Session
The pre-opening session in the MCX market starts before the actual trading session. During this session, traders can place orders to establish opening prices. The pre-opening session timings are as follows:
- Timings: 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM
- Order Entry Period: 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM
- No Cancellation Period: 9:30 AM to 9:45 AM
Normal Session
The normal session is the main trading session where most of the trading activity takes place. During this session, traders can buy or sell commodities based on market conditions. The normal session timings for the MCX market are as follows:
- Timings: 9:45 AM to 11:30 PM
- Intraday Square-off Time: 11:30 PM
- Commodity Delivery Start Time: 5:00 PM
Closing Session
The closing session is the final session of the trading day on the MCX market. During this session, traders can square-off their positions or take delivery of commodities. The closing session timings are as follows:
- Timings: 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Position Book Closure: 5:00 PM to 5:15 PM
- Commodity Delivery End Time: 5:30 PM
